What to Expect at Your First Massage
If you have never had a professional massage — or it has simply been a long while — it is completely normal to feel a little unsure about what happens once you walk through the door. At Lucky Foot Relaxation, we have welcomed thousands of first-time guests across our three San Jose studios, and our promise is the same every time: you will be treated with patience, respect, and genuine attention to your body. This guide walks you through a typical visit so you can arrive relaxed before the massage even begins.
Arrival & Intake
Plan to arrive about ten minutes early. Your therapist will ask a few quick questions about any tension, sore spots, or health considerations so the session can be tailored to you. There is no rush — this conversation is part of the care.
Setting the Space
You will be shown to a quiet, private room with soft lighting and calming music. Your therapist steps out while you undress to your comfort level and settle onto the table under a clean, warm sheet. You are draped modestly throughout the session.
The Massage
Using a blend of Swedish, deep tissue, and reflexology techniques, your therapist works across your chosen focus areas. Speak up anytime about pressure, temperature, or comfort — the session is yours, and adjustments are always welcome.
Afterward
You will have a few minutes to dress and rehydrate. Many guests feel deeply relaxed and a touch sleepy; drinking water afterward helps flush released tension. Your therapist can suggest a return cadence that fits your body and schedule.
A few helpful tips: avoid eating a heavy meal right before your appointment, drink plenty of water afterward, and let your therapist know about any recent injuries or medical conditions during intake. Most importantly, there is no wrong way to experience a massage — if a technique feels too firm or too light, say so. Our therapists in the De Anza, Cherry Avenue, and Pearl Avenue neighborhoods adjust freely, and your comfort always comes first. When you are ready, call the location nearest you to book your first session.
